FAQ

I don't know where I am, help!

At the moment there is no in-game map and no plan for one. There are a few reasons for this.

To add realism to the game.
Since the map can be changed and does change (eg chopping trees, digging dirt) then the map will have to be generated in real time and will waste our server's resources.
The map is huge! It has millions of tiles which take time to fetch from the database.

However we are planning support for player made maps in the game!

I can't cut down any trees, why does this happen?

You can only cut down birch trees at low-level. Usually there are none around the spawn area because of new players like to cut them down to get a higher level. Try exploring a bit and maybe find some birch seeds on trees and make your own private or public birch plantation!

I can't mine any decent ore - only rocks!

You can only mine rocks until you have mined about 100 rocks then you have a good chance of mining iron. Then it is quite easy to raise levels to mine futher ores.

I can't see my inventory!

This is because your monitor is running on a smaller resolution. Stone Age Online is designed for 1024x768 monitors. If you can't see it, use the scrollbar at the bottom of your browser.

What is the point of the game?

Stone Age Online is still being made - we are only a small team of people making it in our free time for fun. That means we have not got many features of the game in yet. However we are starting to get faster and better at making and programming the game so expect more features coming extremely soon.

There hasn't been any news posts for months. What is going on?

Lots usually! We do make the game in our free time so we can usually fit small things in but nothing much worthy of a news post!

Why isn't the jukebox working?

You will need a fast Internet connection and a Windows or Mac computer with Windows Media Player installed on it to be able to play and hear the songs. You may also require the Internet Explorer browser. Make sure that the window is active and underneath other windows, not minimised.
